Memory Walk Parrothead Party
Die-hard Jimmy Buffet fans, including the South Jersey “Flock,” will take over Taylor’s in Cherry Hill from 1PM-6PM for an afternoon of Buffett tunes and Margaritaville-inspired food and beverages to raise awareness of Memory Walk 2008, the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter’s annual Memory Walk fund-raiser on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The Parrothead Party is open to all previous walkers, those who may be interested in participating this year, and the general public. Admission is $20, which goes to the Delaware Valley Chapter. In addition to great music and a fun atmosphere, the event will feature a Chinese Auction and themed games. Fundraiser for Teagan Christopher McOmish
A fundraiser will be held at Freeman Gardens, Hawthorne and Maolis Avenues in Glen Ridge from 3PM-7PM to benefit Teagan McOmish, who has been recently diagnosed with Plagiocephaly as well as Brachycephaly. These skull deformities are not covered by insurance and time is limited for non-surgical correction. It is imperative that Teagan get’s two Cranioplasty DOC bands (special helmets to reshape his head), costing a total of $7,200. Uncorrected, these deformities can have a profound influence on Teagan’s future. We appreciate any help we receive and would like to raise awareness on this topic. Memory Walk Kickoff
The Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter’s South Jersey Regional holds their Kick Off Party for its premiere event of the year – the Atlantic City Memory Walk at the Atlantic County Country Club in Northfield from 6-7:30 p.m. The event is open to all previous walkers, their guests and anyone who might be interested in walking for a good cause on October 5 in Atlantic City. The kick-off party will include hors d’oeuvres, prizes, and networking opportunities, all with an Olympics theme, and in the intimate setting of a country club.Memory Walk will be held Oct. 5, and this year moves to Kennedy Plaza on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, located across from Boardwalk Hall between Mississippi and Georgia avenues. As in the past, participants will be asked to solicit donations for the 5K walk, and Alzheimer’s Association gives them the tools for customized, online fundraising. Devin's Day
SoJO On The Go stops by the Hammonton Fire Station for the Devin's Day Benefit presented by the Frog Rock Golf & Country Club and Kerri Brooke Caterersfrom 1PM-5PM. All proceeds will go toward the Timmy’s Regatta Foundation, which will then be presented to a youth with a life-threatening disease.This year’s recipient is Devin Waddell. Waddell is a 17 year old resident of Mullica Township and attends Oakcrest High School. She is suffering from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL), which is classified as cancer of the blood. Events include a buffet dinner and live auction with Six Flags Great Adventure tickets and a week-long vacation in a North Carolina summer home to bid on. The Sweetwater Casino, traditionally the host of this beloved event, tragically burned down earlier this month. SoJO's Marc Miller stops by A Taste Of The Quarter, a benefit featuring celebrity chefs for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in The Quarter at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City from 7PM-9PM. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Their mission is pure: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

SoJO On The Go stops by the Shelby Richter Fund Golf Outing & BBQ at the Mays Landing Golf Country Club in Mays Landing from 1PM-3PM. Proceeds from the Outing will benefit Sarcoma Research, Grants & Scholarships The Shelby Richter Fund is a non-profit organization created in memory of 13 year old Absecon resident Shelby Richter who passed away from a very rare form of cancer called Undifferentiated Sarcoma. The Fund will put donations towards Sarcoma Research Grants & Awareness as well as Educational Scholarships to be presented to students from area public schools yearly. New Jersey Ride Against AIDS
The seventh annual New Jersey Ride Against AIDS, a three day, 250-mile bicycle ride covering the length of New Jersey will be held Friday, September 26th through Sunday, September 28th, 2008. The purpose of the Ride is to raise awareness that AIDS is still a concern in New Jersey and to raise money to address that concern. The Ride is actively recruiting riders, volunteers and sponsors. Registration deadline is September 10th.
