It's tragedy in Clayton, New Jersey where two people have died following an apparent murder-suicide. Now, the victim's heartbroken son is speaking out.

The deadly events took place Tuesday night after a 45-year-old man reportedly shot a woman and then turned the gun on himself, according to 6abc.com.

The slaying unfolded at an apartment in the North Broad Street section of Clayton, which is located in Gloucester County, New Jersey.

Authorities believe the victim, who was reportedly shot twice, according to fox29.com, and her alleged killer knew each other. According to family, who talked with reporters at the scene, he was her boyfriend. Two children may have been with the victim at the time of her death.

FOX 29 Philadelphia also reports that the gunman shot at witnesses outside of the apartment complex before taking his own life.

The grizzly scene quickly became inhabited by police, investigators, and concerned neighbors.

The victim's son, 20-year-old Damien Green, tells FOX 29 Philadelphia, 'My mom's not here no more and that's the only person I ever had.'

According to Damien, his mother, who was just 43-year-old, according to Clayton Police Department, had a sense of foreboding leading up to her untimely death, reportedly telling her son in their final phone conversation that she felt like she didn't have long to live.

FOX 29 also learned the victim suffered from Lupus and was a cancer survivor.

An investigation remains ongoing at this hour.
